Camelon's Tesco supermarket gets council go-ahead
7 OctoberPlans to build a new Tesco supermarket in Camelon have been given the final go-ahead, after a dramatic meeting of Falkirk Council saw the development approved by a narrow majority.
Falkirk Council members voted on the development at around 5pm on Wednesday afternoon, and the future of the development hung in the balance, until councillors finally approved the application by 16 votes to 12.
The decision, which comes nearly ten years after plans for a store on the former Wrangler factory site were first put forward, will transform the eyesore site on the western approach to Falkirk. The new shop will also bring 200 full and part-time jobs to the area.
