Fire closes Camelon’s Easter Carmuirs Primary
Smoke damage from a fire at Easter Carmuirs Primary forced the school to close for a day.
Fire-fighters were alerted to the blaze, which broke out in the main assembly and dining hall, just after 3am on Friday, January 13.
Education Services were notified early in the day that a fire had occurred at the primary resulting in the school having to be closed.
The Fire and Rescue Service attended promptly and extinguished the blaze.
A spokesman for Falkirk Council said that the school was expected to be open as normal on Monday, January 16.
However, the assembly and dining hall could be out of commission for up to two weeks to allow the ceiling reinstatement to take place.
Alternative arrangements for school meal provision will be arranged.
The spokesperson added: “Minor damage has been caused to the building fabric.
“Smoke damage is the main problem.
“Floors and walls will need to be cleaned.
“The ceiling will require to be replaced.”
The cause of the fire is still as yet unknown.
